Attitude And Gratitude

Negative emotions: Negative thoughts and emotions produce negative results. I am constantly preaching on how you treat others and to always think positive, because negativity is very bad for you, your health, your mental health, and your life in general. Treat others the way you want to be treated. You have to love in order to be loved, forgive to be forgiven, be accepting to receive acceptance. The Bible specifically says in:

Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and

, and evil speaking [slander], be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

James 1:19-20 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh [produce] not the righteousness of God.

How you do what you do: Another thing that I try to instill in you is to always do your best with what God has given you. And to have a positive attitude while you do it. Don’t do things for selfish reasons, do just because you can. Even if you’re not rewarded in the world of man, you will be rewarded by God.

Colossians 3:23-24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance, for ye serve the Lord Christ.

How you feel about others: Always treat others with respect, no matter their station in life. You are no better than they are. Everyone makes mistakes…including you. So, make sure that you give others benefit of the doubt.

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory [rivalry or conceit], but in lowliness of mind [humility] let each esteem others better than themselves.

Behavior accepted by God: Just because your friends do something, doesn’t mean that you should. What they are doing may be wrong in the eyes of God, so make sure that you are considering God’s wants before your own. Besides, living by example is a strong motivator for those that are not following the will of God and may not believe in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Your behavior can lead another to Christ.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Act 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Our attitude: Attitude is important in all aspects of our life. There is no reason to be mean, angry, disrespectful, or inconsiderate. Find your happy place and stay there in your mind and let it reflect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and most importantly your faith in God the Father as well as Jesus Christ.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering [patience], gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance [self-control], against such there is no law.

Be like Christ: We know that Jesus is equal to God in the Holy Trinity of God, Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit. When Jesus became human, He was not less of a deity. Jesus just relinquished the glory that He had as a deity. He became human with a lowly status, and even though He was still equal to God, He experience all of the feelings that exist in the human body. He never allowed those feelings to block His mindset away from the cross or lead to sin. Christ’s humility was the result of His obedience. Christ lived by example to show us how we are supposed to live our lives. Now let me ask you something. If the Son of God, would put Himself through all that us lowly humans have to deal with, and being in harms way for us, what makes you think that you don’t have to follow God’s law as Jesus did? Stop making excuses for why you can’t and just do it!! As it says in:

Philippians 2:5-11 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation , and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above any other name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

There are many more verses that pertain to our attitude, and the other part of my lesson…Gratitude. But for gratitude, I’m only going to share this:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus Concerning you.

Always keep in mind that a positive attitude will get positive results, whether it’s in dealing with people or in completing tasks. And be thankful for everything that you have and everything you do. Remember…things could always be worse. Go forward this week with God and our Lord Jesus, knowing that your behavior affects others.

God loves you, Jesus loves you, and I do too!
