But I Don't Feel Like It! by Trisha Sharp

For Talkin' Turkey 20 November 2021

With all that’s going on in the world today, I know that it’s really hard to find something to be happy about. Instead of bringing your worries to God, we sit and wallow in all the negativity. A lot of us just want to stay in that box of negative thinking. Some of us even like to feel sorry for ourselves and don’t want to do anything else. Even with all the negativity surrounding us, we do have reasons to be happy and rejoice. We just haven’t been looking hard enough. We need to turn our attention to the Solid Rock because Jesus has already overcome everything.

In Philippians 4:23, Paul speaks to us, saying, “The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all.” This means that no matter what you’re going through, or what you’re having to deal with, Jesus is with you. He will help you…if you let Him. When Paul wrote this, he was in prison. But he still found joy because he had the Spirit of Christ with him. When we have the Spirit of Christ with us, we can find joy even when our situations seem dire. The grace and forgiveness of Jesus are with us, so the Holy Spirit helps us to rejoice in the knowing of what we have found in Jesus…life.

Psalm 118:24 says…”This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” When you are looking at what you’re facing every day, you can know that EVERY day is in the Lord’s plan, even when it doesn’t seem like it.

Psalm 37:3-4 tells us, “Trust in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” God takes care of His people. You can count on that. Everything will be provided by His will and in His time. Trust in God and find joy in Jesus.

In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Jesus knew what He was facing and still He trusted in God. He didn’t wallow in sorrow. He taught His lessons and brought His followers to God through Himself. And He was still joyful.

In conclusion, if Jesus could go through His life, knowing what He would be facing, and He still trusted His Father God. He still always found a reason to rejoice. There is absolutely no reason for us to wallow in self-pity. If we truly trust Jesus, then that alone is reason enough to rejoice. It’s definitely reason enough for me!! What about you?

God loves you! Jesus loves you!! And I do too!
